The Artful Journey with Julianna Caro continues! After an exciting fall looking at art exhibitions on Impressionism, the Harlem Renaissance, John Singer Sargent, and the Venice Biennale, this winter we will gather to explore three new topics: Siena and the Rise of Painting, Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now, and Leap Before You Look: A History of Black Mountain College.
Each Artful Journey will begin with coffee, tea, and pastries followed by an inspiring lecture and discussion with art historian and curator Julianna Caro. We will enjoy time to connect with each other and be curious about past and present art and artists.

Julianna Caro is an art historian and curator based in Asheville. Formerly professor of Art History and chair of the Art department at Warren Wilson College, she has curated exhibitions for the Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the Center for Craft. Recently, Caro started The Artisan Tour by Julianna, which offers art, culture, and food tours in downtown Black Mountain and Asheville and week-long cultural and restorative experiences in Italy.

Stories from the Storm
Led By
Lauren Graeber

Thursdays • 1-2pm
March 6, 13, 20
Ages 18+
FREE and open to the public
Hurricane Helene roared through our region and blew apart our lives in ways both monumental and mundane. If you've struggled to put your experiences of Helene into words - and you'd really like to - this workshop is designed to help you tell your stories from the storm. Participants will work through guided writing exercises each session to gather and articulate their memories of Helene and its aftermath. Sessions are designed to help you begin writing rather than to construct a finished narrative for publication (though we'll be generating a lot of material that you could work with). No formal writing experience is necessary and no sharing will be required.
