JAM (Junior Appalacian Musicians)
The Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts offers students ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to learn traditional mountain music on fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Guided by professional musicians, students engage in hands-on learning through demonstration and repetition in a fun, supportive environment. While the 2024-2025 program is currently full, a waitlist is available. Affordable tuition options and instrument rentals make it easy to join this vibrant musical tradition.

Summer Camps
The Black Mountain Center for the Arts Summer Camp 2025 offers exciting performance arts camps for kids ages 3-9. Each week features music, dance, and crafts centered around a unique theme, culminating in a showcase on the BMCA stage. Camps run from 9 AM to 12 PM, costing $175 per week, with discounts for early registration and siblings. Themes range from tropical adventures to classic fairy tales and even a '90s throwback! Preschool and elementary groups ensure age-appropriate fun. Register now to secure a spot for a summer of creativity and performance!

Private Music Lessons
The Black Mountain Center for the Arts offers private music lessons in various instruments, taught by skilled local professionals. Students can register online, and instructors set their own schedules. Lessons are available for all ages and skill levels, with flexible payment options.

Voice Lessons
Black Mountain Center for the Arts offers voice lessons for students ages 8 to adult, tailored to individual goals and learning styles. Whether you're a beginner or an aspiring professional, lessons focus on healthy breathing, vocal technique, articulation, musicianship, and more. Sessions are available weekly on Tuesdays, with 30-minute lessons for $35 and 60-minute lessons for $60. Taught by classically-trained soprano Alison Adams, lessons provide a supportive and enriching experience. Register now to start your vocal journey!

Music Together
Discover the joy of making music with your little one! Music Together® is a fun-filled, interactive class for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers. Through singing, dancing, and playful activities, children (birth to age 5) develop a love for music while enhancing their learning and social skills.

MoveAbility
MoveAbility is an inclusive dance program for individuals (ages 5+) with physical or intellectual disabilities. Our adaptable classes foster creativity, self-expression, and confidence in a supportive environment.
We welcome participants of all abilities, including those with mobility aids, and encourage caregivers to join in. Come explore dance, build community, and express yourself through movement!

Swannanoa Valley Community Chorus
Join the Swannanoa Valley Community Chorus, a welcoming and inclusive group for singers ages 16+ of all abilities. No prior experience is necessary! Learn key musical skills like breathing, sight-reading, and vocal blending, all while enjoying a variety of musical styles.
In addition to weekly rehearsals, the chorus performs at BMCA and other venues like retirement homes, bringing music to the community.
